Frequently Asked Questions
How do I attend HALI London?
Please purchase your ticket via the HALI London Eventbrite page and bring a printed copy or digital version of the ticket with you
on the day of each activity.
What is included in the ticket price?
It depends on the ticket type. All HALI London ticket holders are able to attend the second day of the HALI Symposium at the National Gallery (26 June) and the Fair preview (27 June), and will also receive complimentary tickets to Masterpiece London (27 June-3 July) and The Art & Antiques Fair Olympia (19-28 June). Certain Events with limited spaces are also offered to ticket holders free of charge, but places must be reserved at the time of booking on Eventbrite and are provided on a ‘first-come-first-served’ basis (except for Patron ticket holders who are guaranteed entry to any Events selected at the time of booking).
How do I sign up for Events?
When purchasing Premium or Foundation tier tickets for HALI London, please select the Events you wish to attend in the ‘Additional Items’ section of the Eventbrite booking form. You will be charged for those that incur an additional cost and your name will automatically be added to the guestlist for that Event. All Events have strictly limited places (between 12-30) and you will no longer be able to select an Event if it is fully booked. If this happens, we recommend emailing firstname.lastname@example.org asking to be added to the waiting list so that we can inform you if more places or additional Events are added to the HALI London programme at a later date. The Events that you have booked will be listed in your order confirmation email from Eventbrite.
I am buying a Patron ticket on Eventbrite, why am I being asked to pay for ‘Additional Items: Events’ at HALI London’?
Patron ticket holders will be granted unlimited access to all HALI London Events (please note that the timings of some visits overlap). Therefore, those purchasing Patron tickets should select the Events they wish to attend in the ‘Other Information’ section and disregard those same Events which are offered to Premium and Foundation ticket holders as ‘Additional Items’.
Can Foundation registrants attend Events with limited spaces?
Yes, but bookings for the Foundation tickets open one month after the Premium tickets go on sale so that Premium registrants get priority booking.
Can I order more than one ticket at a time?
Yes, you can enter the names of several individual registrants on one order.
Can I buy tickets as a gift?
Yes, you can enter another person’s name as the registrant at the time of booking.
Can I pay in a currency other than £ GBP?
We can only accept payment in £ GBP. Your bank will charge you at the current exchange rate if you are purchasing tickets from a foreign account. There may be conversion charges – please check with your bank.
Why are there so many ticket tiers available?
The capacity at the Courtauld Institute of Art—where the first day of the HALI Symposium will be held on 25 June—is less than that at the National Gallery, where the second day of the HALI Symposium will be held on 26 June. Although this means that fewer tickets are available for day one of the Symposium, the Courtauld’s position at the forefront of art historical research makes this a valuable collaboration for our field.
Patron and Premium ticket holders get access to both days of the HALI Symposium. We are also offering around 140 Foundation tickets at a lower price (which go on sale on 18 February 2019), which means a wider audience will be able to attend the second day of Lectures, but not the first. Just 12 Patron tickets are on offer, designed for HALI subscribers who wish to participate in a full seven days of HALI London activities, with inclusive guaranteed places on any of the additional Events.
We wish to recognise the continued support of HALI subscribers, and encourage new and returning readers to connect with the magazine, by offering substantial discounts to subscribers on Premium and Foundation tickets.
How do I find out if I have an active HALI subscription?
If you know your Customer ID number (a six-digit number that can be found on correspondence regarding your HALI subscription), you can look up your subscription status at the online HALI shop (https://shop.hali.com/site/loginForm). Otherwise, please call the office on +44 (0) 203 727 4940 or email our Subscriptions Manager at email@example.com for an update.
How many discounted tickets is a HALI subscriber entitled to?
We are pleased to say that we are willing to extend the subscriber discount to anyone else who shares the same home/delivery address as the HALI subscriber who is making the booking.
Are there student discounts available?
Yes. Students are entitled to 75% off full price Premium and Foundation tickets. There are also volunteering opportunities available at HALI London. Please email firstname.lastname@example.org for further information.
What is your refund policy?
We offer a full refund on orders that are cancelled (in writing by email to email@example.com) within 14 days of your booking (from the time of the Eventbrite order confirmation email being sent). However, no refunds will be available in the month leading up to HALI London (after 24 May 2019).
Where are the venues for HALI London?
The HALI London venues are all in close proximity to Trafalgar Square in central London. The closest tube station is Charing Cross (Bakerloo/Northern lines and Southeastern Rail). There are another three Underground stations a 10-15 minute walk away: Piccadilly (Bakerloo/Piccadilly lines), Leicester Square (Northern/Piccadilly lines) and Westminster (Circle/District/Jubilee lines).
Once in London, we recommend using the Citymapper app to plan your journeys. This shows all train and bus routes and is free to download to your mobile device.
How long does each of the Lectures at the HALI Symposium last?
30 minutes, with time for a question and answer session at the end of each morning and afternoon session.
Is the Fair open to the public?
The Fair preview (3-5pm, Thursday 27 June) is only open to HALI London registrants. The Fair is then open to the public for the opening event later that evening (5-9pm) and for the next three days (11am-6pm on 28 and 29 June, 11am-3pm on 30 June).
What will be on show at the V&A Archives at Blythe House?
The same material will be shown at each viewing session, so please only book one session. More details to be announced.
Can you recommend a hotel?
As we are not hosting any events in a hotel, we found that the rack rates offered for group bookings at central London hotels was no better than those that can be obtained by individuals online. Therefore, we are not working in partnership with a particular hotel.
